What does an eBike display do?

Avaris’ eBikes are full of tech to help you get the most out of your ride, regardless of your fitness level or cycling habits. One of these pieces of tech is the Avaris eBike display, and we’re going to go through everything you need to know about our eBike displays and controllers.

Whether you plan on using your hybrid eBike daily, or for the occasional family bike ride, it’s important to familiarise yourself with our features to get the most out of each ride.

What is an eBike display?

You’ll find most road eBikes have a screen positioned at the front of the bike, usually in the middle of the handlebars. This screen is essentially your electric bike’s brain and is there to display important stats and information about your bike ride.

From here, you can see:

  • The current speed of your bike
  • The maximum speed of your bike
  • The average speed of your current cycle
  • The single trip distance
  • Overall distance covered
  • Remaining battery life of your eBike battery

Our display offers 2 viewing angles with a comfortable 2.4” viewing screen, acting as your personal trainer and pushing you to be the best every ride – or simply telling you important and interesting information about your ride.

What is an electric bike controller?

To the left of the bike’s screen is the controller. This nifty piece of tech allows you to quickly and easily change the information you see on the screen, and most importantly, controls the level of assistance you get from your eBike.

Where most electric bikes only offer 3 levels of supported cycling, Avaris eBikes offer 9 levels of assistance.

With 9 levels of supported riding and a battery that provides up to 80 K per charge, you can turn challenging terrains into easy riding with a simple click of a button without the worry of running out of battery – especially with a backup battery!

How do I control a road eBikes speed?

In the UK and across Europe, eBikes legally are not allowed to be powered without assistance, unlike in the US where eBikes are often powered by throttle much like a moped or motorbike.

In order for a road bike to remain legal in the UK, electric bike motors only engage when there is power running to the motor. This means you have to be pedalling in order to receive support from the eBikes’ motor.

Much like a regular bicycle, you can control the speed of the bike with the amount of energy you put into pedalling – the only thing to remember is to adjust the level of assistance to meet your riding requirements.

Once paired with your Avaris eBike, you will be able to view:

  • A speed meter
  • A distance meter
  • Bike health and status
  • Battery life indicator
  • Speed and distance history

  • Pedalling rate (cadence)
  • Trend chart of journey showing speed and cadence
